The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

New Computer, Accepted at Uni

Hello Folks,

hows it going ?
I do hope you are doing just as fine as i do

I recently updated my old machine a little bit and I must say i am pretty much in a permanent state of "AWESOME!!!!!",
this new computer is a killer, and finally matches up to my workflow (that tends to need alot of power and space)

Right now these Components

Intel Core I7 2600 ( 4 cores, 8 threads @ 3.3Ghz + Turbo ) watercooled by a Corsair H60,
16 Gb of DDR3 1333 Corsair RAM,
OCZ Vertex 2 120 GB SSD ( hell yeah, everyone should get one, WIN7 64 Ultimate starts in like 7 seconds ),
Gainward GTX 570 Phantom,
on a ASUS p8p67 Deluxe Motherboard.

work along with my old power supply and harddrive, in my coolermaster CM 690 "admiral"case...
performance increase is just incredible... this baby wont slow me down for a while

just thinking of my photoshop having 16 gig of RAM at hand sets me in the mood to create, create, create.
good times, good times ahead.

On a sidenote, I was accepted at University. ( got a 1.0 on my application, so yeah i am rather proud

)

ich war auch überrascht, nach der Arbeit kommentarlos abgelehnt werden- dafür habe ich keinerlei Verständnis. ich hab von nem Bekannten später gehört, dass die hälfte der Bewerber erstmal aus Prinzip abgelehnt werden "damit sie widersprechen und die Uni sieht, dass sie den Platz wirklich wollen"... komplett verdrehte Bewerbung... wenn ich mit meiner Mappe da ankomme ist doch wohl klar, dass ich den Platz will, wenn ich eine unglaublich umfassende Hausaufgabe erfülle erst Recht. aber nun gut, jetzt kann es mir ja auch egal sein- ich habe meinen Platz verdient und das an einer Uni wo die Arbeit auch geschätzt wird, irgendeinen Pseudo elitären Mist muss ich mir nicht geben

das ist absolut respektlos gegenüber dir und deiner Arbeit, die einfach kommentarlos abzulehnen. Zumal ja offensichtlich ist, dass du ne Menge Zeit reingesteckt hast. Wer nicht will, der hat schon, denk ich da nur. Die haben dich gar nicht verdient.

Vielleicht ist es auch so, dass sie lieber solche wollen, die noch nicht viel drauf haben und in denen sie mehr Lernpotential sehen.

Ich studier Physik, hat also rein gar nix mit Kunst oder so zu tun, hätte ich wahrscheinlich auch keinen Nerv drauf. Ich kann meine Kreativität nicht erzwingen.
